The First Dunoon Film Festival will run from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th June, at the Dunoon Burgh Hall.

Focused on past and present Scottish film-making, the programme will include revivals of ‘neglected classics’ and at the same time showcase new films with emerging talent.

It’s not a parochial programme though, also featuring international films centred on places bound to cause a mass outbreak of itchy feet.

Family entertainment will be well catered for – and ‘special guests’ will be welcomed to the town.

The programme is not available yet but is due shortly – to be announced on 10th May. From then on, updates will be given online here on the Dunoon Burgh Hall website and via local media.

With Dunoon Grammar School’s exciting adventures in in-house television, there is not just an audices of all ages for film in Dunoon – but a growing body of creative talent in the medium.

If this initiative engages its potential audiences and then offers them some skills development opportunities, some  creative challenges  and perhaps some programming targets – between now and next year, there are several directions, all productive, that could be born in Dunoon and for Dunoon  in June 2013.

Creative Scotland is providing financial support for the festival.
